Gifts for Contest Winners
Posted by Tyra from Fort Washington, MD, US on April 29, 2008

Hi,

We are preparing to launch our website. In conjunction with doing this we would like to have contests. Ideally we would like local businesses to provide gifts to our visitors in exchange for free publicity, etc. What do you suggest is the best way to approach businesses about providing free items? We want to also give away big ticket items and need help in identifying some of the best industries that are open to this type of arrangement. Our company is a real estate investing firm.

Thanks in advance for your help and God Bless,

Tyra

To interest the local businesses in donating free product in exchange for exposure, you'll have to convince them thqt they'll be getting enough exposure to make it worth while, and that they'll be getting exposure to the right audience. This becomes even more important when you're talking about "big ticket' items like cars and vacations. So...
Who will be coming to your website?
How many unique visitors a week?
How will they find our about your website?
Will your local businesses have access to visitor's PII?
How many "sponsors" will there be?
Will you be offerring category exclusivity?
Is there a minimum value to the donation?
What's the time frame?
Be prepared to answer these questions ,at a minimum ,in your
presentation to potential sponsors
