My company is recommending sweepstakes as part of an integrated marketing program and would like facts / statistics to support the benefits of sweepstakes and their role in the mix. We’ve found some info but it tends to be outdated. Was wondering if you might be aware of new research or stats —while we’d love as much as is out there, we’d also be happy with something like 80% of Americans enter at least one sweepstakes per year—more among younger consumers.

Sorry, I don't know of any consumer based research that would help you. There is some Company based research that talks about why Companies run sweepstakes,number of prizes, media etc. ,but I don't know of any extensive research on the consumer side. I think on of the problems is that there are so many variables in a sweeps that it's hared to generate reliable data. Prizes , media , time of year,competitive promotions ,etc. all change. The key is to remember that a properly structured sweeps should be objectives driven,contain a relevant prize structure, and of course, be promoted.
